There is an enormous amount of Cafes in Hanoi but a good breakfast place is hard to find. I was almost ready to get out of Hanoi due to lack of luck. I don’t consider myself as a snob but I definitely need a clean and healthy breakfast to start my day. Don’t get me wrong I love Vietnamese food but I have preference when it comes to breakfast.
With the wide variety of cafes and street food in the city, I narrow down the cafes one must try.
Here’s a selection of notable joints with international influence —in no particular order:
Bamboo Bar by Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi
Luxury and elegant hotel in French colonial manner. The place is relaxed and comfortable that will make you want to linger.
The food ranges from mid-end to high-end, emphasizes the French beloved recipes. I’m a big fan of this place, the view and food is utterly amazing. From the pool to their hotel room—that white painted wall reminds me of a novel which set on a colonial period.
Their menu features 6 varieties of sharing board good for 2 persons. What I have on the photo is “Le Club” set. They also serve afternoon tea from 3 pm daily.
Price: VND 440.000 ++ for two, opens daily between 6:30 am – 11:00 pm
Address: 15 Ngô Quyền, Tràng Tiền, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội
Located outside Old Quarter. I have found the place purely based on luck.
One of my personal favourite in Hanoi. The place itself is spectacular, Italian inspired multi-purpose venue. Behind the bar is very surprising, a giant linguini pasta hanging on the wall. I don’t see why not? It’s a cool way to design your restaurant.
The place has a big selection of gourmet food with great value for money. I recommend their set menu– a three course meal and a beverage.
Price: VND 476.000 for two, opens daily between 11:30 am – 10:30 pm
Address:
36 Xuân Diệu, Tứ Liên, Tây Hồ, Hà Nội
The name might not sound tempting, but this place has a charm to it. This joint offers healthy and comfortable space that captures the spirit of old Hanoi.
Their mixed Banh mi is beyond amazing, like no other in Hanoi.
Daily menu features fresh pressed juice. Guava juice is a definite must try. I haven’t had guava since I was a kid.
And oh, they also have vegetarian friendly Banh mi. You just need to ask for it.
Price: VND 80.000 ++ for two, opens daily
Address: 22A Bát Đàn, Hàng Bồ, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội, Vietnam
The cafe has 3 branches in Hanoi.
They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. What I love about this place is the back area —an “al fresco” experience while sipping a cuppa coffee. Serves the finest coffee beans and brewed by trained barista.
Price: VND 200.000 ++ for two, opens daily between 7 am – 7:30 pm
Hanoi, Vietnam-
#22 Ly Quoc Su, Hoan Kiem District
#43 To Ngoc Van, Tay Ho District
#28 Tong Duy Tan, Hoan Kiem District
Owned by an Australian —by far the most hipster venue I’ve been in Hanoi. Everything about it, from furnishing to centrepieces, all period-rusty and antique like treasures. Makes you feel like you’re in a different era.
A good venue to work or just a plain catch up with friends. Serves breakfast and brunch. The place is vegan and vegetarian friendly.
Price: VND 360.000 ++ for two, opens daily between 8:00am – 11:00 pm
Address: 6 Hội Vũ, Hoàn Kiếm, Hanoi, Vietnam
